Cory Paterson
travelled to
Belgium to compete at the 11th
annual Coupe d’Avenir hosted by the Malmedy Gymnastics Club. It was
Cory’s first time representing Canada at an international
competition and his first time in Europe. Competing against a
talented group of boys from the Belgian Age Group Teams, the
Netherlands, Qatar and Malta and under demanding F.I.G.
(International) rules, Cory won an all-around silver medal in
Category II (1995-94). The top ten scores from the both Category II
and Category III (1993-89) qualified for event finals. Cory
qualified for Floor, Rings and Parallel Bar final. Competing against
Juniors and their much higher Start Values, Cory performed very
clean routines to win Bronze medals on both Floor and Parallel Bars.
